Diverse activities

Free events take place this Saturday, July 16, as part of the Diversity Caravan, presented in partnership with Powell River Diversity Initiative.

Between 3:30 and 5:30 pm, an “Identity Art” workshop will be held where participants express their own identity and that of others through artistic creation.

A contest for song and spoken word poetry is also planned with the theme of “imagining a world without hate.” The winning poem will receive $400.

A film, Defining Diversity, Creating Community, begins at 6 pm. The 48-minute documentary reflects experiences and diversity of those who call Powell River home.

All events take place at Cranberry Community Hall, 6826 Cranberry Street. An information booth will be set up at the Open Air Market on Saturday and Sunday.
