Honourable Judith Guichon, BC’s lieutenant governor, will be in town Wednesday, June 17, for various cultural engagements.

As BC’s 29th lieutenant governor, Guichon was sworn into office in November 2012 for a term of at least five years. She was appointed by the governor general to represent Her Majesty The Queen at the provincial level. She upholds the constitutional framework of the province and honours, connects and celebrates British Columbians and their achievements. She promotes the arts, culture and history of the province.

Guichon will attend James Thomson Elementary School’s assembly at 2 pm, to address the students. From there she will tour Willingdon Creek Village at 3:15 pm for tea and a visit with the residents.

Her Honour will arrive at the Royal Canadian Legion, Powell River Branch 164, to visit with veterans and Legion members at 4:30 pm. She will then address the audience attending Pacific Region International Summer Music Academy’s Celebration of the Senses at 7 pm at Willingdon Beach park.

Setting it straight

In an article in the Peak, June 10, the date for the upcoming Cops for Cancer Golf Tournament was incorrect. The correct date for the golf tournament is Saturday, June 27. The Peak regrets the error.
