Sailing changes

With graduation coming up, BC Ferries has recognized that students living on Texada Island may appreciate an extra sailing on graduation evening.

Saturday, June 13, the North Island Princess will leave Blubber Bay at 10:25 and Westview at 11:30 pm to accommodate students and parents of Brooks Secondary School’s graduation class.

A week later, a permanent change will be made to the regular Queen of Burnaby’s schedule between Little River and Westview.

As of June 22, the first round trip sailing of the Burnaby will leave its terminals a little earlier than usual to reduce a berthing conflict.

To accommodate the North Island Princess, the Burnaby will leave Little River at 6:20 am and Westview at 8:05 am daily. The rest of the schedule remains in place.

All schedules can be found on BC Ferries’ website.

Deadline extends

In a bid to reach its target of 500 respondents, Full Circle Farm Research and Development Project is extending its online survey about local food until Monday, June 15. Readers can share their views to help direct the future of food online.

Setting it straight

In an article in the Peak, May 27, about burn regulations on Savary Island, Doug Smith was incorrectly identified as chief of Savary Island Volunteer Fire Department. Gareth Jones currently serves as chief while Smith is spokesperson. The Peak regrets the error.
