Town hall
Powell River residents have an opportunity to express their views about the City of Powell River’s draft strategic plan.
City officials have organized a meeting from 7 to 10 pm on Tuesday, April 2 in Evergreen Theatre at Powell River Recreation Complex.
The first half of the meeting will include introductory remarks from Mayor Dave Formosa, presentations from each of the councillors on six corporate priorities and questions from the public, facilitated by InFocus Facilitation.
The second half of the meeting will provide an informal process for the public to comment on the plan. Participants will be invited to respond to key questions. The facilitator will gather the comments and provide a report to council on the public input.
The Corporate Strategic Plan can be viewed here.
Earth day challenge
Earth Day Canada is issuing an action-based challenge during April urging all Canadians to make positive changes to their daily habits.
Called Act for the Planet, the challenge runs from April 1 to April 30. It encourages people to take up activities that will demonstrate just how easy it is to make daily routines greener and healthier.
The organization’s EcoKids program, with prizes from Sony Canada, offers children a chance to get involved on their own terms. For youth, adults, families and businesses, the challenge will assist in making better decisions about what to do, eat and drink with an eye to what resources are used.
