Financial plan
Residents have an opportunity to learn more about the City of Powell River’s 2011-2015 financial plan at a public meeting, from 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday, April 6 at Dwight Hall. In response to requests made at last year’s meeting, copies of the proposed financial plan will be available at city hall after noon on Thursday, March 31.
The meeting provides an overview of city spending and revenues, including proposed tax increases.
Strike update
Vancouver Island University (VIU) has announced that it will extend the semester to April 29 and cancel the current exam period if the VIU Faculty Association’s strike is resolved by April 11. If the strike goes longer classes will be extended into May and summer session classes will be postponed and rescheduled. Interested readers can visit www.viu.ca for updates.
