Airport grant Transport Canada has granted the City of Powell River over $1.6 million from its Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP).

Transport Canada has granted the City of Powell River over $1.6 million from its Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP). The funds will be used for 10,000 square metres of apron improvements and rehabilitation to the main taxiway in front of the terminal. There will also be drainage improvements, new apron floodlighting and an automatic gate adjacent to the terminal building.


Idle free

Adam Cramb, who has been organizing a campaign to remind motorists to shut off their vehicles in lineups and parking lots, has received some funding from local governments.

Powell River Regional District is contributing $500, with funds coming equally from Electoral Areas A and D, as well as four Idle Free signs.

City of Powell River council voted to contribute $400 to the Idle Free campaign, to be funded from council operating account.
