AVICC has 51 member municipalities and regional districts from Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast and the Central Coast.

NDP opposes pipeline

BC’s New Democratic Party (NDP) has formally registered its opposition to Enbridge’s Northern Gateway project, a proposal to build a pipeline from the Alberta oil sands to a port on the coast. The NDP has sent its objections to the National Energy Board’s joint review panel.

The project poses significant risks to BC’s environment and economy while offering relatively few benefits, the party said.
