Getting made

As is stated in the motion picture industry, The End of the Road documentary project has received “the green light.”

Lund-area filmmakers Tai Uhlmann and Theo Angell met their crowdfunding objective on the Seed&Spark site, which helps filmmakers get projects produced. Uhlmann and Angell will now be able to profile the late 1960s’ and early 1970s’ hippy era that occupied such a prominent place in Lund’s social fabric.

Uhlmann said that a couple of significant donations to the project took the production past the crowdfunding goal.

“We just got an in-kind contribution of $10,000 in design/animation and creative services with Eyeball,” Uhlmann said in an email to supporters. “This in an amazing company that I have had the pleasure of working with in New York City. We also received a $10,000 cash contribution from a foundation that wishes to remain anonymous. Thanks to all your contributions and excitement, The End of the Road will be made.”

The production is making use of archival film and photographs, plus interviews with people experiencing the hippy life in Lund. The project will be capped off with a reunion in Lund in August before going into post-production.

Setting it straight

Powell River Peak wishes to clarify a story from last week on BC Ferries’ fares for students and youth travelling on Route 17 to Vancouver Island. The Northern Sunshine Coast Ferry Advisory Committee will engage the community to solicit feedback on the proposal prior to the program starting.
