Regional district relocates
Powell River Regional District is on the move. It is relocating its offices from the current location in Townsite to office space in Gibson’s Crossing which was previously occupied by Investors Group.
There are some modifications that need to take place in the new space, but the regional district expects the office move will take place sometime before April 1, 2013.
The regional district has occupied its current office space in a heritage building, originally built as the chief superintendent’s house in 1911, for over 30 years. The building’s new owners plan on turning it back into a private residence.
Colin Palmer, regional board chair, said the new space is more modern, efficient and welcoming. It will improve working conditions for regional district staff and create a better environment for board members and members of the public attending meetings.
Penny drops
Townsite Brewing has announced Shiny Penny Belgian IPA as its next seasonal release.
The beer is named after a proposed brewery and gastropub that brewer Cedric Dauchot and his wife and brewery manager Chloe Smith had planned to open in Saskatoon before they moved to join the Townsite team. Belgian IPA is a relatively new beer style in North America and is marked by a higher ABV (alcohol by volume), strong hops and a delicate fruity nose. This is a bottle-conditioned beer that is well suited for storage for up to five years.
Shiny Penny Belgian IPA will be released in mid-November.
