Ferries shuffle

BC Ferries has advised public of changes to both ferry vessels in the Powell River area in order to make repairs to the Queen of Burnaby, which naormally runs between Comox and Powell River.

MV Island Sky will be moved from the Earls Cove-Saltery Bay run to Little River-Westview to replace the Queen of Burnaby from the evening of October 14 through to late November.

For the Earls Cove-Saltery Bay run, MV Island Sky will be replaced by the Bowen Queen, which had previously run on the Southern Gulf Islands.

Queen of Burnaby will be taken out of water on October 15 for several days to repair a propellor hub. Once those repairs are complete, it will replace the Queen of Nanaimo on the Tsawwassen–Southern Gulf Islands route from October 19 until late November to accommodate the Queen of Nanaimo’s refit.

Regular schedules on both Powell River ferry runs will remain in effect during the vessel shuffle

Setting it straight

Three soccer players featured in last issue’s article, “Young strikers ride the riptide,” are not the only Powell River youth on the Upper Island Riptide teams as stated in the story. Other local players are Chris Fisher, Kate Fisher, Russell Pielle, Rikki Leitch, Callie Anne Abbott, Carsyn Casparie and Sophia Milsom. Also, in “Library staff begin preparations for move” we stated that City of Powell River purchased space on the bottom floor of Crossroads Village when in fact they purchased the whole building. We apologize for the errors.
