Transit to implement handyDART policy

Powell River Regional District’s Rural Services Committee recommended that the board authorize BC Transit to implement a policy regarding handyDART no-shows and late cancellations. The new policy will allow transit to mitigate scheduling issues and late pickups brought about by people who call in and then fail to show up, or those who call in cancellations at last minute.

Parkland donation

Directors approved a donation of parkland near Lund. The proposed 0.50 hectare donation of parkland, in the vicinity of Diver’s Rock, lies along Norlund Road, in the community of Lund. The land donation will be transferred to the regional district when the associated subdivision plan is registered with the Land Title and Survey Authority of BC.

Water issues

Directors approved a motion to create a plan of action to remedy an untreated grey water violation in the dishwashing area at Powell River’s Open Air Farmer’s Market in Paradise Valley. The board will also address the septic systems inspection report and drawings compliance before the summer 2014 season to determine whether a well on the property needs to be professionally decommissioned and, if so, how that should be carried out.
