Grant funds education centre renovations

School District 47 has received $17,500 to help pay for renovations at Oceanview Education Centre. The School Community Connection grant comes as part of $10 million that was set aside by the province in 2005 for cooperative projects between the Union of BC Municipalities and the BC School Trustees Association. The district has received money from the fund for various projects over the years including lights for Brooks Secondary School’s turf field and planning the facilities at Haywire Bay.

Dry Grad funds

Brooks’ Dry Grad committee received its annual grant from the Liquor Distribution Branch’s Dry Grad campaign. This year the committee was sent a cheque for $4,079 to help pay for various activities at the annual event held Saturday, June 8. Throughout March, BC Liquor stores collected money from customers and more than $450,000 was raised province-wide.
