RCMP have seized a large quantity of drugs from a Powell River residence and charged two people as a result of a lengthy investigation.

Police executed a search warrant for a residence in the 6800 block of Duncan Street in the early morning of Thursday, February 21. They seized a quantity of cocaine, oxycodone and marijuana from inside the residence. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is over $2,000.

As a result of the search warrant and seizure, Jessica Lynn Rubletz and Stephen George Bidiuk are each facing three charges of possession of a controlled substance. Rubletz is also facing one charge of resisting a Peace Officer.

Both Rubletz and Bidiuk were released on several conditions and will appear in court on March 20.

The seizure results from an investigation that began in May 2012 after information was received from concerned citizens in Powell River, said Constable Chris Bakker. “The RCMP would like to thank the citizens of Powell River who were willing to provide this information to the police and make Powell River a safer place,” he said.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be laid in the future, according to the police.
