Sunshine Coast Tourism elects new board members

ANNUAL MEETING: Christine Hollmann, of Terracentric Coastal Adventures, has been elected president of Sunshine Coast Tourism for 2022/2023. Sunshine Coast Tourism’s board is structured with both geographical and sector positions for a balanced representation of partners across the entire Sunshine Coast region from Langdale to Lund.

Sunshine Coast Tourism’s (SCT) new president is Christine Hollmann, of Terracentric Coastal Adventures, which operates in the qathet region.

Hollmann takes over from Jack Barr, who served as board president for four years and will now sit as past president.

“I’m proud of the organization's achievements throughout the pandemic and our ongoing work as a leader in sustainable destination management,” stated Hollman, in a media release from Sunshine Coast Tourism. “Recovery and resilience require a unified approach and I look forward to continued engagement with our local governments, community partners and stakeholders across the coast.”

The annual SCT general meeting and election of its 2022/2023 board was held in the Rainbow Room of the Rodmay Hotel on November 9. It was the first in-person annual general meeting since 2019, according to the release.

The release stated that SCT’s board is structured with both geographical and sector positions for a balanced representation of partners across the entire Sunshine Coast region from Langdale to Lund. Northern region representatives, in addition to Hollmann include: J.L. (Jack) Barr, Powell River Town Centre Hotel/Beach Gardens Resort and Marina, who will serve as past president and will represent large accommodations; John Hermsen, Footprint Kayak and Hike Explorations, will serve as a member at large from the north; and Chris Tait, from Klahoose Wilderness Resort, will also represent large accommodations.

The release stated that all tourism-related businesses and organizations within qathet and Sunshine Coast regional districts can register with SCT for free. Registered partners can access the stakeholder portal, which provides free industry resources and information, the ability to opt-in to various SCT programs, and the opportunity to learn more about and participate in the organization’s activities.

The release stated that registration information (sunshinecoastcanada.com/join) is used to create/update the public business directory listing on the SCT website.
