Dinner Rock Campground has resolved its safety issues for visitors by removing a number of dangerous trees that were identified and will reopen safely in the early afternoon of June 5 as part of the provincial restart plan.

According to a media release from Tla’amin Nation, these plans are in alignment with the regional emergency operations centre.

“Our apologies for the inconvenience, but the safety of our visitors and our local residents is of great importance to us,” stated Tla’amin Nation chief administrative officer Rod Allan in the media release. “As a reminder, practice safe distancing by maintaining at least two metres distance from other campers when enjoying our campgrounds. Users are expected to follow all recommendations and protocols if experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, as outlined by health authorities. Signage has been posted for the benefit of you and other campsite users.”

Allan stated that Dinner Rock Campground is not a place to recover from COVID-19 if people are experiencing symptoms.

“Please do not visit our campgrounds if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to anyone experiencing symptoms,” stated Allan. “Tla’amin Nation is carefully monitoring the COVID-19 situation. It is an evolving situation, and we will respond to changes based upon orders and advice from public health officials. It is imperative that we keep the health and safety of everyone a top priority.”
