Congregation walked from Tla’amin Nation lands in Townsite to Willingdon Beach

SOMBRE EVENT: Hundreds of qathet region residents walked from Tla’amin Nation lands in Townsite to Willingdon Beach on September 30 in recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Those attending at the beach observed six minutes and 50 seconds of silence for the 6,509 children cited as having died at residential schools and been buried in unmarked burial sites.

The event at Willingdon Beach also featured drumming and songs, led by Tla’amin Nation citizens.
