May weather in the qathet region and BC's southwest coast can be unpredictable, one sunny day with highs of above 20 degrees, the next rainy, windy and an outside temperature that requires a sweater.
However, rain and temperate temperatures make a garden happy, and might not last long, as the month of May is expected to be warmer than normal, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).
"Warm and dry weather is expected as early as next week in the west, which could quickly dry out vegetation," stated ECCC.
The Weatherhood app is forecasting a warm and sunny day today, Wednesday, May 7 with a temperature of 14 degrees by 2 pm, but rain is expected this evening. Thursday, May 8, is predicted to be a little cooler at 11 degrees at noon, and a mix of sun and cloud throughout the day. Friday, May 9, is similar, with a mix of sun and clouds in the forecast with a chance of light showers.
Sunday, May 11, is Mother's Day, and many folks may be wondering where to find that special bouquet of flowers. Two local flower shops are good options: Bloom Therapy at 5300 Yukon Street, inside Springtime Garden Centre, and Bloom Wildly at 4712 Marine Avenue. Both businesses operate brick and mortar and online shops, and also offer delivery services.
