A new president is heading Sunshine Coast Tourism (SCT). Celia Robben, who was the vice-president of marketing for one and a half years, is taking over the top position.
After dedicating close to 10 years of time and effort, both Judy Spears and Chris McNaughton have stepped down from their respective roles as president and vice-president of SCT. Spears will remain on the board as a key advisor to Robben and two new vice-presidents, Eagle Walz (community relations) and Charlene SanJenko (marketing). All three have held other positions within SCT.
“We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Judy and Chris as they have done an incredible job bringing the organization to where it is today, ” said Robben. “We’re all eager to continue a steady progress toward creating a year-round tourism industry for the entire Sunshine Coast, from Howe Sound to Desolation Sound.”
SCT is a non-profit member-based destination marketing organization formed in 2007. The organization’s mandate is to build a strong tourism economy by raising the profile of the Sunshine Coast as a four-season destination through a strategic, research-based marketing strategy. SCT represents over 375 members who own, manage and operate properties or businesses in the region including hotels, restaurants, activity operators and retail shops.
SCT is holding a tourism communications workshop, called A Meeting of the Minds, on Tuesday, March 1 at the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden in Sechelt. It is open to both members and non-members. For details readers can visit the organization's website.
