A small wildfire burning near Halfmoon Bay remains stable as of Friday morning, with BC Wildfire Service crews continuing to make progress on containment efforts.

The fire, listed as Incident V50972 on the BC Wildfire Service map, is holding at 0.95 hectares in size. Its status remains “Being Held,” meaning officials do not expect it to spread beyond its current perimeter under existing conditions and with the resources in place.

Two initial attack crews are on site using direct attack methods. According to an update from the Coastal Fire Centre, fire behaviour remains low, classified as Rank 1 — a smouldering ground fire with no open flame.

“Crews are making good progress on their objectives today,” the update stated.

The wildfire was first reported earlier this week and has not grown in size since Thursday. No structures are currently threatened, and no evacuation alerts or orders are in place.
