With saddened hearts we announce the passing of Anita Zuccato. She was predeceased by her parents Luigi and Katherine (Culos) Zuccato and her brother Louis Zuccato. She is survived by her niece Jodie, her nephew Christopher and her sister-in-law Marilyn.
Born and raised in Townsite, her family moved to their home in Cranberry in 1941, which would become Anita’s home for over 80 years!
She moved to Vancouver with her best friend Alice Mayne (Tomkinson), where she worked at Buckerfield's until moving back to Powell River to go into business with her uncle, Angelindo Culos. The Avenue Shop became a popular shopping destination for many years. After Gindo's retirement and the closing of the store, Nita found employment at Powell River Credit Union, where she remained until her retirement in 1992.
Always one for adventure, she travelled all over the world, enjoyed voyaging on cruise ships to exotic ports of call, and visiting casinos to test her luck. Back at home she was an accomplished bridge player and enjoyed knitting and keeping her mind sharp with crossword puzzles.
Thank you to the staff at Evergreen Care Unit in Powell River for their wonderful care of Anita during her stay there.
