Karin was born Cornelia Catharina van Dijkhuizen in The Hague, Holland.

After attending the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, she became an opera singer and had a successful career in Europe for many years. In 1980 she embarked on a completely new life after immigrating to Canada. The early years saw her and her new husband Gerald living in the Squamish area, subsequently relocating to the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. After Gerald’s death she relocated once again, this time to Powell River, where she lived until her death.

Karin was predeceased by her siblings Jan, Nico, Koos and Tineke, as well as her former husband Gerald Nap. She is survived by her siblings Emmy, Aad and Willem in Holland, as well as many nieces, nephews and other family.

Karin will be remembered for her love for the Lord, music, books and her cats. She will be missed by friends on the mainland and the island.

Our deepest appreciation goes to the staff of Evergreen Extended Care in Powell River, where she had resided for the past two years. Also, many thanks to community care staff, who looked after Karin in her home. Special thanks to her friends Martha and Leslie, who helped Karin in innumerable ways.

Private interment has taken place.
