Born on November 26, 1933, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Roger Carriere lived a life defined by resilience, kindness and a profound love for family. He peacefully departed this life on February 7, 2024, in the Evergreen Extended Care Home in Powell River.

Roger is survived by his loving wife and life partner of 66 years Myrna Carriere, his children Diana Carriere Grant, Robert Carriere and Ross Carriere, his grandchildren Shannon Grant Penner, Kyle Grant, Hope Carriere, Daniel Carriere, David Carriere and Simone Carriere, his great-grandchildren Parker Grant Penner, Hayden Grant Penner and Evan Grant Puymon, and a host of extended family members and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Roger dedicated 22 years of his life to the Canadian Armed Forces, wearing the military uniform with great pride. His service was marked by diligence, fervor and commitment, leading to his retirement at the distinguished rank of major. In recognition of his outstanding individual service and conduct, Roger was honoured with the esteemed Order of Military Merit, presented by the Governor General of Canada on November 21, 1979.

Post military service, Roger continued his professional journey in the training and development industry, contributing to clients in the governmental, industrial, institutional and private sectors internationally.

Beyond his illustrious career, Roger found joy in sports, travel and entertainment. Whether competing in diving, boxing, broomball, or coaching a little league team, he was a force to be reckoned with. His love for travel extended to his family, creating cherished memories of grand adventures in countries around the globe.

Roger’s zest for life was equally evident in quiet moments, listening to his favorite music and solving crossword puzzles with Myrna. A pillar of strength, he was known for unwavering support and genuine camaraderie.

Roger leaves behind a legacy of community involvement, volunteer work, significant achievements, and numerous awards. His impact on the lives he touched is immeasurable.
