Powell River Kings picked up one point in a shootout loss at Chilliwack on Saturday, November 12.

Parker Lalonde and Karter McNarland set up Maxim Potvin’s fifth goal of the BC Hockey League (BCHL) season at 16:55 of the first period to knot the game at one, two minutes after the Chiefs had taken a 1-0 lead at home.

Chilliwack took a two-goal lead in the second period, but Powell River fought back to force overtime. Potvin and McNarland combined to assist on Jack Blanchett’s sixth of the season before intermission, then Nic Porchetta tied the game at three in the third period, with Cameron Symons and Anthony Lucarelli recording helpers on the play. There was no scoring in overtime.

Alex Sandhu was succesful on the Kings’ first shootout attempt, but the next three shooters were stymied. Chiefs missed their first two attempts but the third and fourth skaters capitalized to secure the win.

Chilliwack outshot Powell River 32-30. Attendance at Chilliwack Coliseum was 2,110.

The single point earned in the loss leaves the Kings tied for eighth place in BCHL Coastal Conference standings with Cowichan Valley Capitals.
