How to make the Coast cycling-friendly: presentation coming up

Acclaimed Canadian cycling researcher comes to the Coast

On Jan. 31 at 7 p.m., Transportation Choices Sunshine Coast will host a public presentation by noted active transportation planning expert, Dr. Kay Teschke of UBC.

Teschke will discuss recent research on how to design cycling infrastructure in our communities that promotes biking and decreases risk of injury. Learn what infrastructure features make a difference to women, men, and families.

Teschke is professor emeritus of UBC’s School of Population and Public Health. Named one of 14 Most Influential Canadians in cycling by Canadian Cycling magazine, her Cycling in Cities research program has contributed scientific evidence for building routes that welcome cycling in North America. She has contributed to municipal, provincial, national, and international policies related to cycling, including reviews of traffic deaths and injuries, traffic law reform, benchmarking, helmet law reviews, and design toolkits.Attendees must pre-register on Zoom.
