Lawn bowling club celebrates 90 years

Sport attracts all ages

Lawn bowling is a universal sport. It is a participation activity enjoyed by players of any age and gender. With the new season opening Saturday, May 7, Powell River Lawn Bowling club is hoping to attract new members.

Bowling is a physical activity, can be mentally challenging, is a fulfilling social outing and above all, is a great deal of fun, according to the club. Appealing for people to give the sport a try, the club is offering a special fee of only $26 for the first 10 new members to join. Membership of the local club includes membership of BC Bowls and Upper Island.

To participate, interested readers are asked to arrive with a pair of flat, smooth-soled shoes. Club bowls will be provided for newcomers to try the sport.

New bowlers are invited to attend the Townsite bowling green at 12:30 pm, with club bowlers arriving an hour later at 1:30 pm.
