Nanaimo takes series lead over Powell River Regals

Powell River Regals fell 9-3 to Nanaimo Steelmen in game one of the best-of-five McCallum Cup West Coast Senior Hockey championship series at Hap Parker Arena on February 17.

Jared Winkel scored twice for the Regals, who trailed 1-0 after 20 minutes and 5-2 heading into period three. Bekkam Willis scored the other goal for the home team. Travis Granbois, Hunter Findlater, Rick McLaren and Trevor Burnett were credited with assists.

Games two and three of the series are scheduled for March 8 and 9 in Powell River. Both games start at 7:30 pm.

Regals will host Coy Cup 2024, competed for by senior AA teams in BC, with three regional winners joining the home team at the tournament in March. Tickets are available at the Peak, TAWS and Royal LePage-Powell River.
