Powell River Otago Rugby Club hosted a 50th anniversary celebration at its clubhouse in Cranberry on June 20. Current, former and original club members attended, as did visitors from Japan, Texas, California, Montreal, Toronto, Saskatchewan, Alberta and other parts of Western Canada. Exhibition games were played at Cranberry Field the next day.
