Forward Liam Tanner is the latest addition to the Powell River Kings’ BC Hockey League (BCHL) roster. The Kings also received future considerations in a trade with Penticton Vees, who acquired defender Ben Brunette.

Tanner, who is from Langley, played in the BCHL last season (2021/2022) for the Chilliwack Chiefs and scored 10 goals and added 17 assists in 54 games. He was then sent to the Vees to complete a trade between the two teams in January.

The year before (2020/2021), Tanner appeared in 20 games for the Chiefs, scoring a trio of goals in addition to setting up six others. He was born in 2003.

Brunette, who turns 20 in August, spent the 2020/2021 hockey season with the Kings, then played with the Waterloo Blackhawks of the United States Hockey League last season, but was limited to 15 games due to injury. In his stint with the Kings, he scored four times and recorded six assists in 20 games.

The trade was announced Friday, June 17.
