Powell River Kings Hockey Club continues to make off-season additions to its roster in preparation for the 2025/2026 BC Hockey League (BCHL) season.
Max Bennett is the latest forward to sign with the team. The 18-year-old from Eagan, Minnesota, was fourth in scoring on his team at Cretin-Derham Hall High School in St. Paul, Minnesota, with 21 goals and 12 assists in 28 games. He also finished second in scoring for Team Wisconsin in the Upper Midwest High School Elite League with 13 goals and 18 assists in 21 games.
“I’m super-excited to be a part of the Kings next year and I can’t wait to get started,” stated Bennett. “Coach [Stephan] Seeger and I had a great conversation. I feel very comfortable and confident making the transition to Powell River for the upcoming season.”
At 6-feet, two-inches tall, he will bring more than just his above a point per game offence to the lineup, according to Seeger.
“Max is a confident shooter, and he finds ways to get under the opposing team’s skin either by scoring goals or by creating frustration on forechecks for defenders,” stated Seeger. “He will be a nice power forward addition to our lineup.”
As he prepares to make the leap to junior hockey and move away from home to the west coast, Bennett has goals that go beyond the rink.
“Some expectations for me is to become more dependent and grow into the young adult that I want to be,” he said.”Powell River presents a great opportunity to accomplish that.”
