Powell River Kings claim road win in return from all-star break

Visitors win first of back-to-back games at Frank Crane Arena in Nanaimo

Noah Eyre scored twice while Will Jones and Alex Van Houtte-Cachero added a goal apiece in Powell River Kings’ 4-1 win over Nanaimo Clippers on Friday, January 27.

Goaltender Liam Vanderkooi, who was named first star, made 33 saves for the visiting Kings, who were outshot 34-22 at Frank Crane Arena.

Adam Mendelson and Jones, the game’s second star, each set up a pair of goals for the Kings, who led 2-1 heading into the second period and 3-1 after 40 minutes. Rydor Ringor also picked up an assist on the night.

Eyre was selected as the third star. Attendance was 1,537.

The two BC Hockey League (BCHL) clubs meet again tonight (January 28), also in Nanaimo, at 7 pm.
