Nanaimo Clippers produced all the offence needed for a win in the first period of a game against Powell River Kings at Frank Crane Arena on Friday, October 15.

Clippers were on the scoreboard just 1:14 into the third consecutive BC Hockey League (BCHL) match-up between the two teams and added the eventual game-winning goal at the 8:44 mark while on a power play.

Nanaimo took a 3-0 lead at 16:04 before Hunter Andrew replied for the Kings just over two minutes later, cutting the lead to 3-1 prior to the first intermission. Karter McNarland picked up an assist on Andrew's goal.

Clippers added four more goals in the second period, including Sean Donaldson’s second power play marker, which completed a hat-trick for the forward.

Nanaimo went three for five in the game with the extra attacker, including the lone third-period goal, which made the final 8-1. Powell River’s power play failed on four attempts.

Cooper Black stopped 27 of 28 shots to earn the win in goal. Kenny Gerow took the loss for Powell River, making 21 saves on the night.

Attendance was 1,300.

Nanaimo won the two games in Powell River last weekend but scores of 6-2 on October 8 and 4-1 on October 9.

The two teams meet again tonight, also in Nanaimo. Game time is 7 pm.
