A member of Powell River Minor Hockey Association's U15 Kings has been drafted by Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League (WHL).

Kooper Kozmeniuk was taken in the eighth round, 178th overall, in the 2025 WHL prospects draft on May 8. The 15-year-old scored a hat-trick in the gold medal game at the 2025 BC Hockey Tier 3 provincial championship in Cranbrook on March 20. He scored 20 goals in six games at the tournament to help his team reach the top of the podium.

Prince George finished fourth in WHL Western Conference standings in the 2024/2025 season and lost a first round playoff series to Portland Winterhawks in seven games.
