Powell River U15 Kings skated to an emphatic win to open the first round of Vancouver Island Amateur Hockey Association playoffs last weekend at Oceanside Place Arena in Parksville.

Seven different scorers found the back of the net for the Kings in a 7-1 win over U15 Oceanside Generals. Connal Miller scored the lone first period goal, then tallies by Jack Webber, Carter McDowell and Cooper Lawry made it 4-0 by the end of period two.

Oceanside thwarted any chance of a shutout with a goal in the first minute of the third period, but James Barrows, Keaton Bryce and Kooper Kozmeniuk responded with another trio of goals for the Kings.

U15 Kings host U15 North Island Eagles in their next playoff matchup. Game time is 1:15 pm on Saturday, February 10, at Hap Parker Arena.

The U13 Kings are also in action this weekend, hosting a playoff game on Sunday, February 11, against Oceanside. Game time is 1:15 pm.
