PODIUM FINISH: At the recent Vancouver Island Secondary Schools Athletic Association Junior Girls Soccer Championship, Brooks Secondary School finished in third place, earning the bronze medal in the process.

Brooks Secondary School girls junior soccer club recently competed in the 2021/2022 Junior Girls Soccer Island Championship tournament in Nanaimo.

In game one of the Vancouver Island Secondary Schools Athletic Association event on May 12, Danica Parker and Brooklyn Miller scored for Brooks in a 2-1 win over Gulf Islands Secondary School (Salt Spring Island). Later that day, Parker scored the lone goal against the hosts, Dover Bay Secondary School (Nanaimo), to lead the qathet region visitors to a shutout victory. Both games were played in a downpour as rains pelted the area all day.

The following morning, Brooks faced a strong Reynolds Secondary School (Victoria) team and fell 8-0. The club, coached by Cam Miller, bounced back in the afternoon by posting a 2-0 over Nanaimo District Secondary School to claim the bronze medal. Lily Carlos and Emeline Bourree notched the goals.

Reynolds went on to win gold over St. Michael’s University (Saanich).
