Powell River Special Olympics hosted an invitational swim meet recently. Teams attended from the lower Sunshine Coast, Port Alberni, Comox Valley, and Oceanside. Powell River swimmers did very well.
Erica Barker won first in 200-metre individual medley and 200-metre backstroke, and second in 200-metre freestyle and 100-metre backstroke.
Lance Barker won first in 100-metre breaststroke, 50-metre breaststroke and 100-metre backstroke, and second in 100-metre freestyle.
Steven Folden won first in 25-metre breaststroke and second in 25-metre freestyle.
Janet Robertson was second in 25-metre butterfly and 25-metre freestyle.
Kevin Rothwell won first in 25-metre freestyle.
Robert Soumang was third in 25-metre breaststroke.
Bill Tunsall was second in 50-metre freestyle and 50-metre backstroke, and third in 25-metre butterfly and 25-metre backstroke.
Thomas White was third in 25-metre freestyle.
Many volunteers made the meet an enjoyable event for all who attended.
