Powell River Kings faced a tough task on Friday, December 15, facing BC Hockey League Coastal Conference-leading Surrey Eagles on the road.

At puck drop, Kings were tied for eighth place in the nine team conference with Cowichan Valley Capitals.

Kings held a 4-2 lead midway through the game, but the host Eagles cut the deficit in half before the second intermission, then scored a trio of third-period goals, including an insurance marker into the empty net, en route to a 6-4 win.

Alex Sandhu, Christian Maro, Michael Mardula and Remi Gelinas scored for Powell River. Attendance at South Surrey Arena was 750.

Kings take on the seventh place Langley Rivermen at George Preston Arena in Langley on Saturday, December 16. Game time is 7:15 pm.
