UPDATED: U18 tiering results at Powell River Recreation Complex

Local minor hockey club downs Alberni Valley and North Island Eagles, falls to Oceanside in tiering games

Powell River U18 Kings' skated to a 7-2 win over Alberni Valley in an afternoon game at Hap Parker Arena on Saturday, September 16.

Eugene Souch and Noah Culos scored two goals each for the home team, which led 2-1 after the first period and 3-2 heading into the final frame. Paxton Schreiber, Ben Belyea and Beau Jameson Gagne also scored for the Kings, who sealed the win with four goals in a six minute span of play in the third period.

Luke Dennis earned the win in goal for Powell River.

U18 Kings met North Island Eagles in their second game of the day, also in the main arena at Powell River Recreation Complex, and hung on for a 4-3 win.

Goal scorers for the Kings were Liam Carroll, Belyea and Jeremy Pukesh, who scored twice, including the game winner. Nicholas Baggaley was the goaltender of record for Powell River.

In two other U18 games in Powell River on Saturday, Oceanside collected a pair of wins, handing North Island a 7-1 loss before downing Alberni 6-2. 

On Sunday, September 17, Powell River and Oceanside played in the final tiering game of the weekend at Hap Parker Arena. Carroll gave Powell River a 1-0 lead in the first period, but Oceanside replied with a pair of goals in the second period to take 2-1 lead, which held up as the final score.

Earlier in the day, North Island and Alberni skated to a 4-4 draw.
