Wenatchee rallies for overtime win over Powell River Kings

Wild score four times in third period en route to comeback victory

Wenatchee Wild fought back from a four-goal, third period deficit for an overtime win on Friday, January 6, to spoil the first home game of 2023 for Powell River Kings.

Anthony Lucarelli and Noah Eyre scored 16 seconds apart in the first period for the Kings, who led 2-0 after 20 minutes and 5-1 heading into the third period.

After Wild forward Cade Littler cut the lead to 2-1 early in the second period, Powell River responded with goals from Ryder Ringor, Marcus Dashevsky and Caleb Bentham prior to intermission.

Wenatchee dominated the third period, outshooting the home team 16-5 (34-32 overall) and scoring four times to force the extra period of play, including the tying goal with five seconds remaining in the game. Littler had one of the third period goals for the Wild, and completed the hat-trick 38 seconds into overtime.

Attendance at Hap Parker Arena was 718.

Kings host Cowichan Valley Capitals in BC Hockey League (BCHL) action on Saturday, January 7. Game time is 7 pm.
