Powell River Villa lost more than a soccer match on Saturday, December 2. The local Vancouver Island Soccer League (VISL) club also dropped one spot in Division 1 standings, and into the relegation zone.

At kickoff, Villa held a two-point lead over Victoria Highlanders for eighth place, but the host Highlanders came away with three points by posting a 3-2 win over visiting Villa at Goudy Turf in Langford.

Niko Cristante and Caiman Duggan scored for Villa in the first half, who have 11 points from 13 games, one fewer than Highlanders and three more than last place Westcastle Academy. Highlanders scored all three of their goals in the second half of play.

Vic West tops the Division 1 table with 35 points, one more than Gorge FC, Villa's next opponent on December 9 in Saanich.
