Win advances Powell River U15 Kings to island final

Minor hockey team one step away from provincials appearance

Powell River U15 Kings sealed a spot in the Vancouver Island Amateur Hockey Association Tier 3 final with a 6-3 win over the visiting Kerry Park Islanders on Sunday, February 19.

Paxton Schreiber, who also set up a goal, scored twice for the home team at Hap Parker Arena, while Carter Stekman, Kai Nouwens, Jack Webber and Beau Jameson Gagne had one goal each.

Connal Miller, Tristan Hawkins, Chase Fontaine, Jaxon Peters and Stekman also produced assists for the Kings, who move on to play North Island Eagles (Tri-Port) in a best-of-three championship series to determine which team will represent Vancouver Island at provincials in Port Alberni next month.

The series begins Saturday, February 25, at Hap Parker Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 1:15 pm.
