DAUPHIN — Mounties in Manitoba will be replacing at least one window after arresting two people for throwing a rock and a beer bottle at a detachment.

RCMP say a 39-year-old man Friday flung a large rock through a window, narrowly missing bystanders and employees at the station in Dauphin, northwest of Winnipeg.

Officers caught up to him, but were twice threatened with a collapsible baton, which was used on at least one of them.

Police say the man faces several charges, including assault of a police officer with a weapon, mischief and carrying a concealed weapon.

Two days later, a second man who wanted to talk with police about an unrelated matter drove a vehicle onto the curb, got out and threw a glass beer bottle at the detachment.

A 21-year-old, also from Dauphin, faces impairment charges and will appear in court at a later date.
