Conor Frenette's overtime goal earns Victoriaville stirring 4-3 win in QMJHL finale

QUEBEC — Conor Frenette scored in overtime to rally the Victoriaville Tigres to a stirring 4-3 win over the Val-d'Or Foreurs and a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven Quebec Major Junior Hockey League final Sunday.

Frenette's goal at 7:03 of the extra session capped an amazing comeback for Victoriaville, which trailed 3-0 in the third period.

Val-d'Or's Maxim Cajkovic opened the scoring at 6:24 of the first before Nathan Legare and Maxence Guenette added second-period goals to put the Foreurs ahead 3-0..

But Victoriaville forced overtime with three goals in the final 6:35 of regulation time. Nicolas Daigle scored at 13:25 of the third before Shawn Element made it a one-goal game at 18:54.

Then Alex Beaucage forced the extra session by scoring at 19:55 of the period before 2,146 spectators at Centre Videotron.

The fourth game of the series is scheduled for Tuesday night.
