A project to replace a wingwall at Blubber Bay Terminal begins today. According to a BC Ferries media release, the anticipated completion date for the work is July 31.
Work involving drilling with a barge and crane will take place during daylight hours Monday through Saturday. In the release, the ferry corporation indicated that noise levels are not expected to be excessive.
An additional daily sailing is being added to the schedule for the duration of the project while work continues around regular sailings. The extra sailings will depart Blubber Bay at 1 pm and return from Westview at 2 pm Monday to Friday. Additional sailings will also depart Blubber Bay at 1 pm on Saturdays and Sundays with the return from Westview leaving at 2:30 pm on weekends.
Select round-trip sailing cancellations are anticipated throughout the project, according to BC Ferries, with periods between May 11 and 25 and June 13 and 26 specifically identified. Five days notice will be provided prior to cancellation dates.
BC Ferries staff will direct travellers to ensure safety around the terminal.
