Stanislaw Ochenduszko Funeral service for the late Stanislaw Ochenduszko will be at the Church of the Assumption, Powell River. Prayer Service will be Wednesday, April 27 at 7 pm, Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, April 28 at 10:30 am.

Max Vroom

Max passed away April 19, 2011 after a long battle with leukemia. He will be missed by his wife Pat and  family.

No service by request. A family gathering will be held at a later date. Thank you to Dr. Rossouw, Dr. Hoffert and the staff of the Oncology Department. Donations may be made in his memory to the Oncology Department at Powell River General Hospital.


Willem Bloeming, January 17, 1922 - April 24, 2011

Bill passed away peacefully on April 24, 2011 at the Evergreen Extended Care Unit in Powell River. He is Survived by his loving wife Chris of 63 years, daughters Florence Koning, Treyntje Ploeger and niece  Rouly Albers. Bill will be greatly missed by family and his many friends.

A service will be held on Friday, April 29 at 1 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 6952 Courtenay Street. Refreshments to follow.


John A. Oram, July 17, 1946 – February 28, 2011

John died in his sleep recently in Vancouver, BC. He was born in Solihull, Warwickshire, England where he completed his education. John completed further training at the Baur au Lac Hotel, Zurich, Switzerland, Nassau Beach, Bahamas and the Royal Garden and InterContinental hotels in London, UK.

John, with his wife Pamela, moved to Canada to work with Holiday Inn’s (CHIC) Hotels in Winnipeg and Vancouver and also worked with The Denman Hotel, Delta Hotel and Resorts and Coast Hotels as a general manager. John shared his passion for the hospitality industry with guests, students, staff and as a volunteer director with the Hotel Association of Vancouver and Skal International Vancouver. He also contributed as a volunteer for 15 years at Ryerson United Church in the soup kitchen and as a soccer coach and referee with Kerrisdale Soccer club.

John retired in 2003 and enjoyed his time in Powell River and Vancouver. His memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 3 pm at St. Andrew's-Wesley United Church, 1022 Nelson Street,  Vancouver. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Alcoholics Anonymous or Al-Anon.
