Herbert Rudolph Keller, October 22, 1931 - July 27, 2014

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our deeply loved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandpa and great-grandpa. He will also be missed by his many friends.

Herb was born on a farm in Wilkie, Saskatchewan along with six siblings. He moved to Oliver, BC in 1942 and then to Powell River in 1952. He was employed from 1952 to 1991 by Powell River Company, later known as MacMillan Bloedel.

Herb was a well-respected member of the volunteer fire department for 42 years. He started in Wildwood and later helped found Northside Fire Department Number 1 on Klahanie Drive. The fire department was his passion. He also loved boating and fishing with his friends and family. We felt privileged and grateful when he offered us some of his catch.

Herb was predeceased by his mother and father Phillipine and Karl Keller as well as brothers Valentine, Albert and Karl. He is survived by his wife Phyllis, his children Patricia, Gregory (Deb), Stanley (Tracie) and Marion, his sisters Viola Biech, Evelyn Lode and Noreen (Herb) Teas as well as stepchildren Ben, Mark (Linda), Laura (Steve) and Francine. He leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will remember him with love and fond memories.

We appreciate everything Powell River Stroke Club has done for Herb and others who have experienced this trauma. In lieu of flowers please make donations to this worthy local cause. We invite you to join us at Herb's celebration of life on Saturday, August 9, at 2 pm at Westview Baptist Church.

Refreshments to follow.
