Elizabeth (Bette) June Dawson, September 16, 1918 - November 29, 2013
It is with sadness that the family of Bette Dawson announces her passing. She was born in Port Alice, BC, and moved to Powell River at the age of three. Mom was a lady of many talents and interests, which included a love of music, and was blessed with a beautiful singing voice. The music stopped for her with the sudden loss of her husband Bill in 1982 and it wasn’t until she moved into Olive Devaud Residence nearly two years ago, that, with encouragement from some of the staff, singing again became a source of pleasure.
Mom was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, and one who valued and maintained her friendships, some of them dating back many years. Surviving Mom are her son Tom (Linda) of Sherwood Park, AB, daughter Lee (Michael) Hill of Powell River, grandchildren Kelli (Scott) Littlefair, James Dawson, Rory (Nicole) Guenard, Jennifer (Rob) Crawford and nine greatgrandchildren.
Many thanks to Dr. Nick White for his care over the years and to the staff at Olive Devaud for looking after Mom so well. She thought so much of you.
A memorial service will be held on January 11, 2014 at Powell River United Church at 2 pm.
Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith…it is the price of love.
