Funeral service to be announced in this paper at a later date.

Ed Cecconi, June 22, 1920 to December 22, 2010

Our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed on to his Heavenly Father at age 90. Ed was born in Vissandone, Udine, Italy and immigrated to Canada at a young age with his family. He grew up in Powell River and learned his masonry trade in Ontario in his younger years. He returned to Powell River to marry Freda (Hennigar), and had a family of three girls.

He leaves behind his wife Freda and daughters Susan (Chris) Gaudet, Della, and Kerry (Doug) Fraser, as well as grandchildren Melissa (Greg) Williams, Bryce (Nicole) Fraser, and Meryl Fraser and three great-grandchildren, Xzavier, Jennings and Vada. He also leaves his sister, Vilma Baker and many other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents, Luigi and Egidia, and brothers Ermis and Olinto.

Ed loved to spend time with his family, and loved to make wine and share it with them. He loved his garden, and to build new projects in his workshop. He also spent countless hours driving the streets of Powell River, keeping an eye on construction projects. Ed will be remembered for his masonry craftsmanship and all that he constructed in Powell River, including his contribution to Rotary Club of Powell River work at the viewpoint. Ed had a healthy and long life until the last few months. He will be sadly missed by his family who loved him.

Prayers will be held at 4 pm on Wednesday, December 29, funeral will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Church of the Assumption at 1 pm. A gathering of friends and family will follow at St. Joseph’s Hall. Contributions may be made to prostate cancer research in lieu of flowers. Thank you for all your prayers during Ed’s sickness, and thank you to hospital staff for quality care.

We will miss your beautiful smile.
