Vernon Gerard Peterson, July 4, 1932 - December 17, 2011
Vernon was born in St John, New Brunswick and died in Powell River, British Columbia. He was predeceased by his wife Melva of Wiarton, Marie, mother of his children, sons Luke and Dan Peterson, and granddaughter Jamie Lee Peterson, all of Mackenzie.
He is survived by daughter Virginia (Ginny and Dave) Fisher and grandson Neko Peterson of Powell River, son Mark (Karen) Peterson, grandsons Matthew Peterson, Kelly (Wendy) Peterson, Gregory (Tanya) Peterson, great-granddaughters Brynn, Geena and Hannah of Mackenzie, daughter-in-law Helen and granddaughter Shannon Peterson of Vancouver, stepson Paul (Heather) Danard of Owen Sound, stepdaughter Karen (Peter) Danard Eng, step-grandchildren Isaac Eng and Rossalyn Eng of Mississauga, sister Vallery (Clarence) MacDonald and brother Karl (Aurelia) Perry of Miramichi.
Special thanks for the wonderful care and support provided by Sauble Christian Fellowship, the people of Glacier apartments, Dr Hobson and the fourth floor staff of Powell River General Hospital.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, January 19, at 1:30 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion, Powell River Branch 164 where we will recognize his service to the country he loved so well. Refreshments to follow.
Robert Otto Damitz, January 18, 1958 - December 22, 2011
At the age of 53, Rob passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle with cancer. His wife and best friend Kim as well as his sister Kathy were at his side.
Rob was predeceased by his father Otto. Rob will be lovingly remembered by his wife Kim, his mom Sylvia Damitz, brother Rick (Lisa and Toni), sister Kathy (Gary), nephews David (Catherine) and Michael (Kirsten and Atlee), niece Rachel as well as the Dorcas family and many aunts and uncles.
Among his relatives, Rob leaves a legacy of many close and dear friends who will sorely miss him. He was an avid golfer and loved to travel and fish. During his seven years at Gray Monk Cellars, Rob's skills and dedication made him well respected by all who knew him. His quiet demeanor and his subtle sense of humour will forever be in our memories.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 from noon to 4 pm, at the home of Charlie and Ingrid Gatt, 4052 Marine Avenue.
