Robert Charles Scott (Charlie)
Surrounded by family, Robert “Charlie” Scott peacefully passed away on February 10, 2012 at Powell River General Hospital. He was 70 years of age.
Charlie was predeceased by his parents Charles and Helen Scott, his sisters Barbara and Patricia and his brothers Earl (Steve) and Lorne. He leaves to mourn daughter Wanda and son Corey, grandchildren Vanessa, Dallas and Grace all of Medicine Hat, Alberta. He is also survived by his brother Ed of Regina, Saskatchewan and sister Wuanita of Smith Falls, Ontario, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Charlie was born in Smith Falls on October 9, 1941, and at the age of 18 left home to join his brothers in Regina, working at IPSCO Steel Plant. In 1964, he met and married Marilyn Wenzel, and in 1969 moved his family to Powell River because he was tired of the cold weather.
Upon arriving in Powell River he got a job at MacMillan Bloedel Pulp and Paper Mill and retired in 2002. Over the years, Charlie shared his life with Caroline Carr and Vivian Kaban and enjoyed spending time with his children. Charlie was also fond of his many recreational activities which included skiing, golfing, baseball, hunting and fishing. Later he learned the art of cooking and it can be said that he made a mean pie. Charlie spent many hours enjoying his many pastimes and created many special memories with his family and friends at Powell Lake, where he will be fondly remembered.
Charlie’s celebration of life will be held Thursday, February 16 from 2 to 4 pm at Carlson Community Club with a private family service of burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made in his name to the charity of your choice or to the Powell River Salmon Society.
