Alicia Jane (Roberts) Harrison, November 26, 1922 - February 10, 2011
With deep sadness we announce the passing of our mother Alice, who died peacefully, surrounded by her family, in hospice in Maple Ridge.
Born in Saskatchewan, Alice spent her adult life on the west coast, the past 47 years in Powell River, where she had wonderful friends and neighbours. She regaled us all with stories of growing up in Saskatchewan during the Great Depression, working in Vancouver during the early 1940s, her life as a young bride in logging camps in the Queen Charlotte Islands, and the challenges and joys of raising a large family.
Predeceased by her husband Harry in 2004 and son Brian in 2010, Alice is survived by daughters Susan and Shelley, sons Michael, Allan and Geordie, their partners, 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren with another on the way.
Family and friends will gather to honour Alice at a future date. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, Soldier On, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
Alice loved her family, her independence, her country and her community. She always supported small businesses and took immense pleasure in giving to others. She supported many charities, local and global, as well as anyone “down on their luck.” Like our father Harry, she was not motivated to have more than she needed but was delighted to have enough to share. She will be missed more than we can say.
